9 pm
In the exhibition galleries and on 5th Avenue outside of the Museum
Exhibitions on view include:
Revolution of the Eye: Modern Art and the Birth of American Television, which the New York Times calls “revealing” and “entertaining.”
Repetition and Difference, which The New Yorker says “succeeds again and again.”
Laurie Simmons: How We See, which ARTnews described as "lightly surreal splendor, with a dash of humor.”
Masterpieces & Curiosities: Nicole Eisenman’s Seder, which Art in America calls “Radiant.”
And more!
Out on 5th Avenue will be a performance by composer and turntablist Paul Miller, also known as DJ Spooky That Subliminal Kid, whose “ambitious, elaborate, often hypnotic soundscapes have been notable as much for their eclectic imagination as for their post-modern intellectualism” (Chicago Tribune). Miller brings an art party set to the streets of New York, drawing from a powerful range of influences — old films, dance music, noise, and world beats. Miller offers an exciting, thoughtful, and very fresh sound.
And for families, create playful accordion books using collage and drawing inspired by imagery in the exhibition Revolution of the Eye: Modern Art and the Birth of American Television.
