Dani Gal in Conversation with Jens Hoffmann

Talk

Tuesday, September 9, 2014
8 – 9:30 am
Think Coffee, Union Square, 123 4th Ave, NYC

A breakfast salon for the 21st century that takes place in the early hours of the day at Think Coffee, Union Square, hosted by the Jewish Museum. Artist Dani Gal and Jens Hoffmann, Deputy Director, Exhibitions and Public Programs at the Jewish Museum, will discuss art, memory, and identity.

Dani Gal’s upcoming exhibition at the Jewish Museum marks the United States premiere of As from Afar, a video installation by the Israeli-born artist. Based on the late-1970s correspondences of Albert Speer, Hitler’s chief architect and confidant, and Simon Wiesenthal, a Holocaust survivor, ardent Nazi hunter, and a fellow architect, As from Afar reconstructs the historical narrative of this charged relationship through documentary materials and cinematic imagery.
