The acclaimed contemporary string quartet ETHEL performs the complete string works of Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Julia Wolfe: Four Marys, Early that summer, Dig Deep, and Blue Dress for String Quartet.
Wolfe's string quartets, "combine the violent forward drive of rock music with an aura of minimalist serenity [using] the four instruments as a big guitar, whipping psychedelic states of mind into frenzied and ecstatic climaxes" (The New Yorker). This is the first performance of all of Wolfe's string quartets at one time, on one stage.
Presented in conjunction with Martha Rosler: Irrespective, the exhibition of fellow New York City cultural icon Martha Rosler, closing on Sunday, March 3.
Tickets: $20 General; $16 Students and Seniors; $12 Jewish Museum Members
