Families may explore a variety of materials and ideas through weekly Monday drop-in sessions in July inspired by works of art on view.
Here are the weekly sessions:
July 2 – Collaged Scene
Use found images, colorful paper, and drawing materials to create a scene inspired by the work of Marc Camille Chaimowicz and Chaim Soutine.
July 9 – Imaginative Furniture
Use model magic clay to create a unique piece of furniture in the style of Marc Camille Chaimowicz then decorate your design with markers and found objects.
July 16 – Whimsical Diorama
Design your own three dimensional diorama using a mix of found objects, colorful board, and drawing materials after viewing the work of Chaimowicz and Soutine.
July 23 – Patterned Prints
Create unique patterned paper using stamping techniques inspired by Chaimowicz's hand-printed designs.
July 30 – Vibrant Still Life
Paint your own still life scene inspired by the vibrant art work of Chaim Soutine.
This season, the art of Marc Camille Chaimowicz offers families the opportunity to see beautiful design objects, unique furniture, colorful wallpapers, and collages—along with patterns and pathways that evoke the natural landscape of Central Park across the street. Families may also discover the expressive paintings of Chaim Soutine, and explore the world he observed and depicted in his striking still life images.
RSVP recommended. Included with Museum Admission; admission is free for children 18 and under.
