Join us for a workshop exploring the work of celebrated author and illustrator William Steig, subject of the exhibition From The New Yorker to Shrek: The Art of William Steig. Hear from Maggie Steig, daughter of the acclaimed illustrator, as she shares insights into her father's work and artistic process. Following the talk, a Jewish Museum educator will facilitate a discussion of select works of art and a related activity.

During this virtual drawing class led over Zoom, get inspired by representations of city scenes on view in the Jewish Museum’s past exhibition Edith Halpert and the Rise of American Art. Participants will explore perspective, abstraction, and narrative in paintings by Charles Sheeler, Stuart Davis, Jacob Lawrence, and others.
