Lecture

Larry Silver: Diaspora Tales and Rembrandt

Join us for a lecture by Larry Silver, Farquhar Professor of Art History, emeritus, at the University of Pennsylvania, as he discusses the biblical books of Tobit and Daniel, the lesser-known tales of Jewish life in the Persian diaspora. Along with the Book of Esther, these stories held great fascination for Rembrandt, and his pictorial representations read as stories about both Jewish survival and a prophetic future.
