Talk

Thursday, January 19, 2017
8 – 9:30 am
Think Coffee, Union Square, 123 4th Ave, NYC

A breakfast salon for the 21st century that takes place in the early hours of the day at Think Coffee, Union Square, hosted by the Jewish Museum. Artist Walter Price discusses his recent projects with Jens Hoffmann, Director of Special Exhibitions and Public Programs.

Walter Price (b. 1989, Macon) lives and works in New York. His paintings are a mix of intimate recollections, cultural symbols, identity, and social questions. Summoning past experiences, such as growing up in the South or fighting fires while enlisted in the Navy, Price creates illustrative multi-dimensional vignettes, free from time and the laws of gravity, amalgamating into single scenes, often with contradictory perspectives and narratives. Recent solo exhibitions include Karma, New York (2016); The Modern Institute, Glasgow (2016). Recent group exhibitions include Rachel Uffner, New York (2016); 247365, New York (2016); The Journal Gallery, New York (2016); Jeffrey Stark, New York (2016). Price is one of this years upcoming Artists-in-Residence at the Guild Hall in East Hampton, NY.
