The Jewish Museum at Home: Teaching with Lois Lowry’s Number the Stars

Join us for an online workshop that explores the book Number the Stars, a work of historical fiction by American author Lois Lowry about the escape of a Jewish family in Denmark during World War II aided by the Danish Resistance.

Lois Lowry, two-time recipient of the prestigious Newbery Award, speaks live about her novel and her work as a writer. The talk will be followed by a Number the Stars themed virtual tour with a Museum educator exploring works of art in the Jewish Museum collection.

A Zoom link will be emailed to you one day prior to the program.

Participants may receive 1.5 CTLE hours.

Professional development workshops are made possible with endowment support from The Gershon Kekst Family. Additional support is provided through public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.

  • Ticket holders are encouraged to arrive promptly, as seating is not guaranteed once a program has begun.

  • If your ticket was emailed to you, present the ticket on your mobile device or the print-out of your ticket.
  • Tickets purchased for events and programs at the Museum include admission to the galleries on the day of the program during regular Museum hours.
