Join the Jewish Museum for a look back at key exhibitions focusing on new media and video art. JACK GOLDSTEIN x 10,000 (May 10 - September 20, 2013) the first American retrospective of Canadian-born artist Jack Goldstein brought to light his important legacy as a central figure of the Pictures Generation, showcasing his influential paintings and films, while also including installations, writings, and pioneering sound recordings. Martha Rosler: Irrespective (November 2, 2018 - March 3, 2019) contained selections from more than five decades of work, among them photographic series, sculpture, and video, characterized by a sense of urgency directed at social and political issues that remain as relevant and immediate as when they first emerged. Finally, Jonas Mekas: The Camera Was Always Running, opening February 18 and on view through June 5, 2022 explores the breadth and import of Mekas' life, art, and legacy in the field of the moving image. Coinciding with the centennial of his birth, the exhibition surveys Mekas' 70-year career and includes 11 films presented in an immersive environment, photography, and previously unseen archival material.
