Join the Jewish Museum and our Museum Mile neighbors for the 44th Annual Museum Mile Festival. This year’s festival marks the return of an in-person festival, following two years of virtual events during the pandemic. Established in 1978 to increase public awareness of its member institutions and promote public support of the arts, the Museum Mile Festival serves as a model for similar events across the globe.

The institutions participating in this highly successful collaboration this year are located on Fifth Avenue from 84th Street to 109th Street: The Metropolitan Museum of Art; Neue Galerie New York; Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum; Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum; The Jewish Museum; Museum of the City of New York; El Museo del Barrio; and The Africa Center.

The doors to each museum will be open to the public for free throughout the event and live programming will be available. Please check each museum’s website to learn more about their programming, which will include musical performances and activities for families and adults.

At the Jewish Museum:

Rumba de la MUSA, a diasporic collective of artists who gather around the voice of the Caribbean drum, will perform three sets (at 6pm, 7pm, and 8pm) outside the Jewish Museum on Fifth Avenue. The multi-generational group counts members from Cuba, Puerto Rico, Chile, Panama, Colombia, and the US and performs traditional Afro-Cuban Rumba, a musical form with roots in the African and European musical traditions that coalesced in Cuba sometime around the end of the 19th century.

Visitors can explore Scenes from the Collection, the Museum's rotating collection exhibition featuring nearly 600 works from antiquities to contemporary art—many of which are on view for the first time.

Families can view the new installation Coney Island, which showcases photographs of the famed amusement park from the late 1930s through the late 1950s along with two Coney Island style carousel horses, and be inspired to sculpt their own animal-in-action using self-hardening clay and markers. Printed family guides will also be available with works from this installation along with other art on view in Scenes from the Collection.

Free. No registration is required.
