Zoom, Virtual Program
This program has been canceled and registration is closed. If you would like to receive advance notification about future programs, please email info@thejm.org.
Join us for a virtual workshop that explores the exhibition New York: 1962-1964 on view at the Jewish Museum through January 8, 2023. The exhibition examines how artists living in the city, such as Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, Louise Nevelson, and Faith Ringgold, responded to their rapidly changing world. Hear Kristina Parsons, Leon Levy Assistant Curator, discuss how works created amidst epoch-changing events such as the Cuban Missile Crisis (1962), March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom (1963), and the assassination of President John F. Kennedy (1963) fundamentally altered the artistic, social, political landscape of New York City and the nation at large. Following the presentation, engage in close looking at works of art in the exhibition with a Jewish Museum educator.
Educators in the New York area may also join us on Nov 16, 2022 for an in-person tour of the exhibition with a Jewish Museum educator.
Program fee: $10
New York State Educators may receive 2 CTLE hours.
A limited number of spaces are available for teachers of self-contained special education classes and special education teachers in ICT classes to register free of charge by emailing schoolprograms@thejm.org.
Please register by November 9, 2022.
