Using New York: 1962-1964 as a jumping off point for their discussion, critic and essayist Louis Menand, and Sam Sackeroff, part of the curatorial team behind the exhibition, engage in a discussion about America in the mid-twentieth century and the role that art played in the political, social, and cultural context of the time. Menand is Anne T. and Robert M. Bass Professor of English, Harvard University and author of numerous books including most recently The Free World: Art and Thought in the Cold War (2021).
