Southern Rites visits Montgomery County, Georgia, one year after the town merged its racially segregated proms, and during a historic election campaign that may lead to the election of its first African-American sheriff. Filmmaker Gillian Laub, whose photographs of the segregated proms first brought the area unwanted notoriety, explores the town’s painful struggle to confront longstanding issues of race, equality, and justice. Directed by Gillian Laub.
