The Jewish Museum invites middle and high school students and teachers to view award-winning documentary films that examine current social issues such as representation and identity, immigration, and civil rights, followed by discussions with filmmakers.
Southern Rites (2015)

Southern Rites visits Montgomery County, Georgia, one year after the town merged its racially segregated proms, and during a historic election campaign that may lead to the election of its first African-American sheriff. Filmmaker Gillian Laub, whose photographs of the segregated proms first brought the area unwanted notoriety, explores the town’s painful struggle to confront longstanding issues of race, equality, and justice. Directed by Gillian Laub.
