Drop-In Program

Family

Tuesday, October 22, 2024
2:30 – 4:30 pm EDT
Exhibition Galleries

This free drop-in program occurs every other Tuesday through December 17.
RSVP is recommended but not required.

Preschoolers and elementary school-aged children are invited to explore the galleries and participate in creative projects during these engaging afternoon drop-in sessions. Inspired by artworks on view, families will encounter different art-making activities, such as printmaking, mixed-media collages, or sculpture projects in this bimonthly program.

This program is led by a Museum Educator and assisted by Teen Interns.

October 8: Playful Collage Portraits
Using cut-outs of photographs, magazine images, and other art materials, create a colorful collage portrait inspired by the artwork on view in Ilit Azoulay: Mere Things.

October 22: Found Object Sculptures for Sukkot
Create a sculpture out of found objects, recycled materials, and natural objects to celebrate the holiday of Sukkot.

November 5: Handmade Books for Election Day
On Election Day, create a handmade book made of collages and drawings that celebrates freedom and share your hopes and wishes this coming year.

November 19: Textured Collagraph Stamps
Make a collagraph print plate by layering textured objects. Roll ink over your plate and produce a series of prints that explore texture, color and shape.

December 3: Metallic Paintings
Create paintings that shimmer! Using metallic paint on a dark background, paint a landscape or scene inspired by the Festival of Lights.

December 17: Clay Menorah Sculpture
Explore the Museum’s Hanukkah menorah collection in the galleries, then make your own menorah sculpture out of cardboard and clay to decorate your home during the holiday.
