RSVP is recommended but not required.

Preschoolers and elementary school-aged children are invited to explore and create during these drop-in Tuesday afternoon sessions. Inspired by artworks on view, families will encounter different art-making activities, such as printmaking, mixed-media collages, or sculpture projects.

This program is led by a Museum Educator and assisted by Teen Interns.

January 14: Colorful Diorama
Construct your own diorama! Using cardboard, colored paper, and other collage materials, create a colorful and imaginative environment. Decorate your space with pop-up figures, furniture, or other elements.

January 28: Watercolor Accordion Books
Use crayon and paint to experiment with line and color in your own unique accordion book. Discover the ways watercolor and crayon resist each other to create different textures and surfaces on each page.

February 11: Cyanotype Prints for Tu B’Shevat
Learn how to make a cyanotype print to celebrate the birthday of trees! Using objects from nature and other inspiring materials, families will create an alternative photograph of their composition using photosensitive paper and UV light.

March 11: Playful Purim Masks
Join us to celebrate the upcoming holiday of Purim! Using found materials like cardboard, buttons, feathers, and more, create a mask to wear for the holiday.

March 25: Styrofoam Prints
Make a series of prints inspired by the artwork on view in the exhibition, The Book of Esther in the Age of Rembrandt. Etch a design into a styrofoam plate, then roll ink over the plate and stamp it to produce prints that explore color, line, and shape.
