47th Annual Museum Mile Festival

Eight museums and several neighborhood partners are once again coming together to present the 47th annual Museum Mile Festival, New York City’s biggest block party, which will take place, rain or shine, on Tuesday, June 10, from 6 to 9 pm.

This celebration of art and culture will feature live programs, musical performances, exhibitions, and art-making activities for all ages, as well as additional events. Festival attendees can walk Museum Mile on Fifth Avenue between 82nd Street and 110th Street while visiting eight of New York City’s finest cultural institutions, all of which open to the public with free admission throughout the event.  

The museums participating this year are: The Metropolitan Museum of ArtNeue Galerie New YorkSolomon R. Guggenheim MuseumCooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum; the Jewish Museum; Museum of the City of New YorkEl Museo del Barrio; and The Africa Center

The Church of the Heavenly Rest, the New York Academy of MedicineThe Asia SocietyAKC Museum of the Dog, the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World, the New York City Civic Engagement People’s BusNYC Kids Project, and 92NY will also participate in the festival as neighborhood partners. 

The Museum Mile Festival’s opening ceremony takes place at 5:45 pm at the Museum of the City of New York (1220 Fifth Avenue). Virtual audiences can follow the hashtag #MuseumMileFestival on Instagram, Facebook, Threads, and X throughout the evening.

Frank London’s Klezmer Brass Allstars performs high-energy Eastern European Yiddish music, klezmer, in concerts, festivals, parties, parades… everywhere.  They have released 5 acclaimed recordings, and the pandemic-era live concert film, The Rooftop Concert.

FAMILY ART ACTIVITY: MINI POSTER DESIGNS
Inspired by the striking works of art in the exhibition Ben Shahn, On Nonconformity, create a mini poster using image and text to communicate your own hopeful message. Print impressions of textured objects, then add bold text and stamped images to design your unique poster.
