New York Jewish Film Festival 2000

Jan. 16 – Jan. 27, 2000

Welcome to the Ninth Annual New York Jewish Film Festival — a collaboration between The Jewish Museum and The Film Society of Lincoln Center.

This year’s festival presents 25 unique voices that embrace and illuminate the Jewish experience. From the madcap contemporary love story of Man is a Woman to the painful ironies of From Swastika to Jim Crow, the filmmakers offer compelling, provocative, funny and thoughtful visions. Please join us in exploring and celebrating our eclectic array of Jewish films drawn from around the world, including Hungary, France, Switzerland and Israel.

This festival was organized by a committee consisting of Rachel Chanoff, Chair, Film Festival Selection Committee; Zannah Mass, Film Festival Coordinator; J. Hoberman, Senior Film Critic, The Village Voice; Richard Peña, Program Director, The FIlm Society of Lincoln Center; and Aviva Weintraub, Director of Media and Public Programs, The Jewish Museum.

This international festival is made possible by generous support from The Martin and Doris Payson Charitable Foundation, The Joe and Emily Lowe Foundation, The Jack and Pearl Resnick Foundation, the New York State Council on the Arts, a State Agency, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and other funders.
