Films from The Soul of Nations Indigenous International: Green Architecture Project

Middle and high school students are invited to view award-winning documentaries that examine current social issues such as representation and identity, immigration, and civil rights followed by Q&A sessions with filmmakers.

The Soul of Nations Foundation is an organization that aims to uplift Indigenous Nations and Black communities through the arts, policy research, and scholarship. In November, the Jewish Museum will partner with Soul of Nations to feature experimental films made by artists participating in their fellowship program, the Indigenous International: Green Architecture Project.

Enkang’ Ang’: Our Home
Enkang’ Ang’: Our Home depicts rich Maasai heritage through virtual reality simulations and photographs presented in the form of film. The Soul of Nations Artist Fellows, a cohort of Kenyan female artists, visited Twala Tenebo women’s village of Kenya and documented their hosts’ lives, including Maasai homestead history and design, diet, rituals, objects, and effects of climate change.

Kinstallations
Artist Fellows Dayna Danger (Métis-Saulteaux) and Regan de Loggans create a collaborative performance of Indigenous-infused sound and movement exploring how colonized peoples from different parts of the world are bound to one another through the architecture of home and body.
