Dialogue and Discourse
Pearl Bowser in Focus
Guest Curator Lisa Collins (Director/Producer/Co-Editor), with collaborators Mark Schwartzburt (Producer) and Anthony Jamison (Editor), discuss the creative process behind their multimedia installation, Pearl Bowser and the 1970 Black Film Series. Marking the 55th anniversary of Pearl Bowser’s groundbreaking 1970 retrospective The Black Film at the Jewish Museum, the homage brings together vignettes, rare archival footage, and a short film capturing Bowser’s return to the Museum at age 90. In conversation, they will contextualize selections from their work highlighting three films from Bowser’s original series, moderated by Aviva Weintraub, Director of the Jewish Film Festival.
Free with Museum admission; advance RSVP required.
