For Participants with Dementia and their Care Partners
Participants with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias and their care partners are invited to join a lively and creative program that encourages personal connections to original works of art and each other. This program will explore portraiture in the Jewish Museum’s collection and Joan Semmel: In the Flesh through facilitated discussions, multi-sensory experiences, and art making.
Joan Semmel: In the Flesh juxtaposes 16 paintings by the artist, many monumental in scale, with nearly 50 modern and contemporary artworks from the Jewish Museum’s expansive holdings. The works from the collection—encompassing painting, sculpture, photography, and works on paper—were selected by the artist for their engagement with themes present in her work, including her exploration of beauty, agency, and self-perception.
Please note, this exhibition contains nudity and sexual imagery.
All Access Programs are free of charge and require advance reservation. If you have any questions or need accommodations, please contact [email protected] or 212.423.3289. If you are interested in observing this program, please reach out to us before registering.
