Winter Break Program for Ages 12–16
February 17, 18, 19, and 20; 10:30 am – 1 pm
Spark creativity this mid-winter break with free filmmaking workshops. Each day explores a different part of the filmmaking process through fun, accessible activities; come for one day or all four. Participants will explore the basics of filmmaking including storytelling, shooting, and editing. No prior experience or equipment required, snacks are provided.
Tuesday, February 17: Story & Storyboards
How do filmmakers turn ideas into moving images? Learn the basics of storyboarding and translate your ideas into a clear sequence of shots.
Wednesday, February 18: Cinematography & Lighting
Explore the fundamentals of cinematography and film a short, silent scene.
Thursday, February 19: Sound & Atmosphere
Discover how sound effects, ambient noise, and voiceovers shape the mood of a film. Experiment with sound, record audio, and build a soundscape.
Friday, February 20: Editing & Effects
Learn the essentials of editing using original footage or select clips.
