After School Art Explorers

Drop-in Program

Apr. 14, 2026 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm
Floor 4 Studio

Preschoolers and elementary school-aged children are invited to explore and create during these drop-in Tuesday afternoon sessions. Inspired by artworks on view, families will encounter different art-making activities, such as printmaking, mixed-media collages, or sculpture projects.

This program is led by a Museum Educator and assisted by Teen Interns.

March 10: Color Books
Create your own vibrant book that celebrates ways to explore color. Make multiple paintings and collages that all come together into a small collection of images.

March 24: Clay Collage Vessels
Get ready for Passover by making a Miriam’s Cup clay vessel. Use air dry clay to mold your own bowl shape, and then collage buttons, wire and other found materials to add expressive details.

April 14: Animal Puppet Creations
Design your own playful animal puppet. Use model magic to craft an animal creature head, and use fabric, trims, and more to form the body.

April 28: Fanciful Styrofoam Prints
Make fanciful prints inspired by the art of Paul Klee. Draw patterns and designs on styrofoam and use bright inks to make your own unique print.

May 12: Bold Geometric Paintings
Make a bold and colorful geometric abstract painting inspired by the work of Paul Klee. Layer colors and shapes by using tempera paint and tape to block out shapes and form your unique artwork.

Free program.
