About the performance:
In Oran Etkin‘s Timbalooloo, audiences step into a magical world where instruments come to life as playful characters, “speaking” through music in a joyful dialogue that bridges cultures and invites children of all ages to find their own musical voice.
In this special performance, Timbalooloo founder Oran Etkin is joined by Iranian musician Mehrnam Rastegari, a master of the kamancheh as well as violin, percussion, and voice. Together, they take the audience on an interactive global journey where jazz, Iranian, Jewish, Brazilian, and African musical traditions meet and transform into something entirely new—full of rhythm, imagination, and connection.
Praised as “heartwarming” by Herbie Hancock, Etkin brings his signature blend of storytelling and musicianship to the stage, fresh from collaborating with Hancock for UNESCO International Jazz Day—a shared vision of bringing people together through music.
