Free Stop Motion Animation Workshop

Nov. 11, 2025 10:30 am - 3:30 pm
Floor 4 Studio

Students ages 11 to 15 are encouraged to explore the world of stop motion animation in this one-day workshop with Jewish Museum collection artist Maya Erdelyi. The workshop focuses on utilizing various techniques, experimenting with materials, and having fun with the animation process. Using objects, paint, sand, cut-paper puppets, and the human body (a technique known as pixilation), students learn the basics of animation and get plenty of time to create. Class ends with a celebration and screening of the work created that day.

What to Expect:

  • An introduction to stop motion principles
  • Guided creative experiments using various materials
  • Opportunities to try different animation techniques (clay, cutout, object animation)
  • Time to play, create, and share with others
  • A space that encourages curiosity, collaboration, and artistic risk-taking

This workshop is perfect for beginners or anyone curious about animation—no experience needed! This class is free, and registration is limited. Students must bring their own lunch; snacks are provided. For more information or to register, please email [email protected].
