Join us for a workshop that explores the intersection of photography, graphic design, and advertising. Modern Look: Photography and the American Magazine explores how photography, graphic design, and popular magazines converged to transform American visual culture from the 1930s to the 1950s. The exhibition features over 150 works including photographs, layouts, and cover designs and considers the connections and influence of designers and photographers such as Richard Avedon, Lillian Bassman, Margaret Bourke-White, Louis Faurer, Robert Frank, Lisette Model, Gordon Parks, Irving Penn, and Paul Rand. Following a presentation by Chris Gartrell, Associate Manager of Adult Programs, a Jewish Museum educator will facilitate activities and discussion of select photographs in the exhibition.

Educators may receive 1.5 CTLE hours.
