Sunday, April 17, 2016
12 – 4 pm
Scheuer Auditorium

Join us for our Passover extravaganza with art, music, and dancing! Set yourself free to the catchy pop rock of The Macaroons, create a painted fabric design with holiday motifs, add to a giant matzah masterpiece, explore the galleries, and more!

Freedom Art Jam Schedule:

12:30 pm and 2:30 pm
PERFORMANCE: THE MACAROONS
The Macaroons play catchy pop-rock with tunes for the Passover holiday and more that will keep the whole family grooving to their delicious beats. The big harmonies, irresistible melodies and guitar-based sound that's more Beatles than Wiggles recall everything from the Kinks and Queen to the Shins.

Noon to 4 pm
DROP-IN ART WORKSHOP
Families may participate in three activities.

Sculptural Holiday Vessels
Design your own whimsical vessel to use during the Passover seder by sculpting with modeling clay, colored wire, beads and more. Use your imagination to form this unique object for the holiday.

Giant Matzah Masterpiece
Collaborate on a giant collage to create an artistic wall of matzah, a symbol of freedom. Snap a selfie in front and share a message on social media about what freedom means to you.

Painted Passover Designs
Get creative using holiday motifs and imagery to paint a colorful fabric piece that celebrates the Passover holiday. This fabric may be used on top of a matzah cover or as a work of art on its own.

1:30 pm and 3:15 pm
HOLIDAY SPOTLIGHT TOURS
A Museum educator will conduct a brief tour highlighting objects on view related to Passover, including a sketching activity.
