Join the Jewish Museum and Americas Society for a special performance with the legendary Argentinian artist Marta Minujín, in conjunction with the current exhibitions Marta Minujín: Arte! Arte! Arte! and El Dorado: Myths of Gold. The event will be a restaging of Minujín’s iconic 1985 photo-performance with Andy Warhol, Paying Off the Argentine Foreign Debt with Corn, the “Latin American Gold, and will take place at the Americas Society, 680 Park Avenue.

Minujín’s tongue-in-cheek action explores themes of trade, capital, and Argentina’s role in the global economy, mitigated by humor. The performance playfully engages with the complex economic relationship between the United States and Latin America, while also alluding to the two Pop artists’ relative positions in the art market. The evening will be introduced by Aimé Iglesias Lukin, Director and Chief Curator of Art of the Americas Society, and Rebecca Shaykin, Associate Curator at the Jewish Museum, and will be followed by a celebratory reception.

Guests are invited to come early to visit the exhibition El Dorado: Myths of Gold (on view at Americas Society through May 18, 2024). And don’t miss the final week of Marta Minujín: Arte! Arte! Arte! (on view at the Jewish Museum, 1109 Fifth Avenue, through April 1, 2024).

Free with Advance RSVP Required. Early arrival is suggested as space is limited, and entry is not guaranteed.
