Mason Klein

​Mason Klein is a critic, art historian, and curator at the Jewish Museum, where he has organized numerous exhibitions, among them the Museum’s centennial exhibition, Modigliani: Beyond the Myth (2004), Alias Man Ray (2009), and The Radical Camera: The Photo League 1936 – 1951 (2011). His work at the Museum has received a number of honors, including awards from the National Jewish Book Award, International Association of Art Critics, the New England Book Festival, the ForeWord Book of the Year, the San Francisco Book Festival, the Dedalus Foundation, and Choice Outstanding Academic Title. He has written catalogue essays for the Wexner Center for the Arts, Philadelphia Museum of Art, American Folk Art Museum and other institutions, and has published essays on a wide range of American and European artists, including Joseph Beuys, Ross Bleckner, Marcel Duchamp, Leon Golub, Ray Johnson, Yves Klein, Man Ray, Nancy Spero, Michael Snow, and Joan Snyder. Dr. Klein has a BA from Bennington College and a PhD in Art History from the Graduate Center, C.U.N.Y.
