Comedy Night at the Jewish Museum Hosted by Josh Gondelman, Featuring Roy Wood Jr., Emmy Blotnick, and Alison Leiby, and Musical Performance by Laura Stevenson

New York, NY, June 4, 2018 — Josh Gondelman, comedian and writer for Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, returns to the Jewish Museum to host a night of comedy and music on Thursday, June 21, 2018, beginning at 8 pm. The lineup features comedians Roy Wood Jr., Emmy Blotnick, and Alison Leiby, with a musical performance by singer-songwriter Laura Stevenson.

The evening is presented in conjunction with Scenes from the Collection: Television and Beyond. A selection of television clips rotating every six months, inspired by the National Jewish Archive of Broadcasting (NJAB)in the Museum’s collection, examine how Jews have been portrayed and portray themselves, and how mass media has addressed issues of religion, ethnicity, and diversity. The first program, “Friends and Family,” on view through August 6, 2018, highlights current television shows that disrupt previous norms of the family sitcom, expanding the notion of family to include invented and extended families and circles of intimate friends. Excerpts from such shows as Broad City, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Difficult People, Fresh Off the Boat, Grace and Frankie, Orange is the New Black, and Transparent are shown.

Tickets: $15 advance; $18 day of. Includes Museum Admission. Galleries open until 8 pm. Doors for the show open at 7:30 pm. Show begins: 8 pm.
