The 'Gesher' Family is the story of a group of actors from Moscow and Leningrad who created a theater together after emigrating to Israel (Gesher in Hebrew means bridge). The interviews with the actors about their experience of living in a new land and learning a new language convey the persistence and enthusiasm of these emigrés. Clips of their innovative, high-energy performances are plentiful, including their Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, presented in 1992 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. The 'Gesher' Family reminds us of the excitement and creativity possible in cross-cultural encounters while introducing an extraordinary family of talented performers.
