Enter the striking world of Chagall, Lissitzky, and Malevich at our family extravaganza honoring these celebrated artists. Design a playful collage book, sculpt a whimsical mobile, paint a colorful work of art, hear live music, see art in the galleries, and more.
Family Day Schedule:
Oran Etkin’s Timbalooloo 11:30 am & 2 pm – two sets
In celebration of the dynamic visual rhythms and imagery of Chagall, Lissitzky and Malevich, hear the fusion of klezmer, jazz and more with Oran Etkin as he weaves global melodies into a gumbo of goodness for all ages. See how he musically crafts tunes from art on view in two captivating performances.
11 am – 4 pm: Drop-in Art Workshops
- Shape Books - Design a folding book using stamping techniques and drawing with color sticks to compose your playful creation inspired by works on view in the exhibition.
- Abstract Mobiles - Construct a mobile with whimsical forms using string and bright tag board while drawing inspiration from the art of Lissitzky, Malevich and more.
- Painted Dreams – Paint a brilliant work of art using watercolor resist techniques. Develop colorful characters and backgrounds with unexpected imagery both from the world around you and your dreams.
- Collaborative Chagall-esque Drawing – Collaborate on a large scale city scene with dancing figures, topsy-turvy architecture, floating animals and bold shapes using colored pencils and markers.
11:30 – 3 pm: Face Painting Transformations
Transform your face into a work of art by the Agostino Arts painters inspired by Chagall and the Russian Avant-Garde artists on view.
12:30 and 3 pm: Spotlight Gallery Tours
An educator will conduct a brief gallery tour with a sketching opportunity that will spotlight art work on view in the exhibition.
