Visitors ages 18 & up with intellectual or developmental disabilities and their families are invited to join the Jewish Museum and Berlinklusion’s UNBOUND project for an in-person workshop exploring themes of connection. During this program participants will use their senses to explore art in the Jewish Museum’s exhibition, Scenes from the Collection, and make their own art inspired by the theme. Each participant will have the chance to have their art featured in a 2023 exhibition in Berlin, held in conjunction with the Special Olympics.

All Access Programs are free of charge and require advance reservation. Please contact access@thejm.org or 212.423.3289 for more information or to register.

All participants will be required to wear a mask during this onsite program.

If you are interested in participating and cannot attend, please email us for instructions on how to participate virtually.

ABOUT UNBOUND

UNBOUND is a Berlin-based flexible and accessible artist exchange and residency program that brings together 6 local artists with and without disabilities across multiple disciplines over a period of 12 months, with the goal of creating a series of new artworks that will become the basis of an exhibition, a series of public, participatory events and an ongoing platform for artistic international exchange. This project seeks to develop networks among artists with and without disabilities on both a local and international level.

Created by Berlinklusion and funded by the Senatsverwaltung für Inneres und Sport in connection with the Special Olympics to be held in Berlin in July 2023, the entire project will launch a larger and ongoing initiative of exchanges via the establishment of a platform for international artistic collaborations that will position artists with disabilities as equal voices within the mainstream arts sector.

ABOUT BERLINKLUSION

Berlinklusion is a network for accessibility in art and culture in Berlin. Led by Kate Brehme, Dirk Sorge, Jovana Komnenic and Kirstin Broussard, a mix of disabled and non-disabled artists and arts mediators, we seek to positively change Berlin’s cultural landscape by promoting inclusion and improving accessibility for artists, cultural workers, participants and audiences with and without disabilities.

The Jewish Museum is committed to making its programs accessible to all. Please let us know if you need any additional accommodations.
