For the Love of Rutland (2020)
Film Run Time: 85 minutes
Advance viewing is recommended; films will not be shown during Q&A.
Middle and high school students are invited to view award-winning documentaries that examine current social issues such as representation and identity, immigration, and civil rights followed by Q&A sessions with filmmakers.
An attempt to resettle Syrian refugees in the economically struggling and predominantly white town of Rutland, Vermont unleashes deep partisan rancor in the community. Long time resident Stacie Griffin yearns to improve her own situation and those of her neighbors—old and new—and emerges as an unexpected and resilient leader in a town divided by class, cultural values, and political leanings.
Live virtual Q&A February 9, 11 am EST with Jennifer Maytorena Taylor, director/producer; Jim Sabataso, producer; and Lisa Ryan and Stacie Griffin, film subjects.
Film will be available upon registration.
