Floor 4 Studio and Exhibition Galleries

In this one-day vacation camp at the Jewish Museum, students in grades 6 through 8 are invited to join Leila Sales, author of The Museum of Lost and Found, to uncover what goes on behind the scenes at the Jewish Museum. Inspired by the book, students in this workshop will:

  • Meet with guest author, Leila Sales
  • Speak with Jewish Museum curators
  • Explore the galleries, and behind the scenes, at the Museum
  • Experiment with artmaking techniques in the art studio
  • Receive their own copy of The Museum of Lost and Found

In the book, protagonist Vanessa isn’t sure which happened first: finding the abandoned museum or losing her best friend, Bailey. She doesn’t know what to do now that Bailey has left her behind—but when she stumbles upon an empty, forgotten museum, Vanessa's purpose becomes clear. She starts filling the museum with her own artifacts and memories, hoping that perhaps if she can find the right way to tell the story of her broken friendship, she can figure out how to make it whole again.

Registration is limited.
