Public Programs Intern

The Public Programs Intern will assist with planning and implementation of public and academic programs for adult audiences.  Programs relate to current exhibitions as well as the collection and follow a variety of formats including lectures, gallery talks, concerts and film screenings. S/he will work directly with the Manager of Public Programs and Associate Manager of Adult Programs staffing events and helping with ongoing research both for future events, as well as in the areas of outreach to University audiences, Adult Studio Workshops, and docent training.

Schedule: 14-21 hours per week; with most Thursday nights required (5-8pm)


  • Generating research for upcoming programs and events, specifically creating research binders on upcoming exhibitions to facilitate program and gallery tour development
  • Assisting with clerical tasks such as filing and mailing contracts and letters of agreement
  • Assist with set up and clean-up for all Public Programs
  • Liaise with the public during programs in the Museum’s gallery or auditorium space –including handling visitor check in, evaluations, or answering general questions
  • Continue growing the Museum’s database for University Outreach


  • Current Bachelors or Masters student; preferred field of study Fine Art or Art History
  • Some interest in Public Programming, Education, Contemporary Art, Visitor Services
  • Strong research and organizational skills required
  • Should be both willing to work as part of a team and work independently on projects
