Artists and designers’ rising interest in ritual since the 1990s inspires Reinventing Ritual: Contemporary Art and Design for Jewish Life, the first international exhibition to survey this phenomenon.

Rite Now: Sacred and Secular in Video will be on view from September 13, 2009 through February 7, 2010 in The Jewish Museum’s Barbara and E. Robert Goodkind Media Center. These works explore secular and sacred rituals in a new framework, documenting inventive spiritual practices, reimagining old stories, and proposing new rituals.

In this lively exhibition, visitors will discover a lost world captured in astonishing detail in more than 80 vibrant paintings and drawings by Mayer Kirshenblatt.

The Jewish Museum will present an exhibition of rarely-seen Old Master paintings entitled Reclaimed: Paintings from the Collection of Jacques Goudstikker from March 15 through August 2, 2009.

The Danube Exodus: The Rippling Currents of the River, By Peter Forgács and The Labyrinth Project, on view at The Jewish Museum from March 15 through August 2, 2009, draws together images, words, and sounds to create a multimedia exhibition about the displacement of different ethnic minorities, and the possible similarities between the challenges they face.
