The Jewish Museum seeks an experienced grants manager, persuasive writer, and collaborative team member to play a key role in securing education program and project support from foundations, corporations, individuals, and government agencies. The position manages funding for a diverse portfolio of school, public, family, and access programs as well as special projects as needed. The Development Officer, Education will write highly effective grant proposals; maintain and grow relationships with funders; and participate in creating funding plans and strategizing approaches to meet the Museum's goals. The position will also include front-line fundraising for individual prospects and donors within this portfolio. The ideal candidate will be a skilled writer, a strong project manager, an excellent communicator, detail-oriented, and able to meet all deadlines. Responsibilities:

Controller

The Museum has a $20 million operating budget supported by admissions, memberships, retail, philanthropy and earnings from endowment investments. Building Mechanic (Local 241)

  • Monitor, maintain and repair all HVAC equipment to ensure adequate levels of temperature and humidity throughout museum.

Security Manager

The Jewish Museum seeks an experienced and highly professional Security Manager to help lead and coordinate all security functions across the Museum. Responsibilities:

  • Hire, supervise and provide leadership to the Museum’s security team, which includes 40+ security guards, control room operators, and temporary contract guards.
  • In case of emergency, be prepared to lead all evacuation and safety protocols, including liaising with the police, fire department and other emergency response units.
  • With the Director of Operations, develop and maintain security, safety and fire protection protocols that reflect current standards and Museum best practices. This may include evacuation plans, security operations manual, accident and incident reports, fire and natural disaster plans, and related materials.
  • Train security personnel in emergency procedures, first aid, and other applicable safety standards; train Museum staff on security protocols and conduct safety onboarding for all new hires.

  • Manage the security components of the Museum’s participation in the Transportation Security Administration’s Certified Cargo Facility Program in conjunction with other key principles in the program.
  • Assist with developing and overseeing the Security Department operating budget.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in law enforcement and/or security management; experience in a museum environment preferred.
  • Hands-on working knowledge of various security technologies, including CCTV, access control, surveillance equipment and electronic alarm systems.
  • Experience with managing the screening of patrons and visitors including the entry of large numbers of people for special events, including bag checking procedures and use of equipment such as upright metal detectors and hand held devices.
  • Excellent people management and customer service skills with proven ability to diffuse difficult situations.
  • ICS 100, 300 and NIMS 700a required.
  • If hired, must be able to obtain FDNY Certificate of Fitness F07, Fire and Emergency Drill Conductor and must successfully complete a security threat assessment through the Department of Homeland Security.

  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and have the ability to effectively present in a clear, concise, and diplomatic manner.
