Development Intern

The Development Department is seeking a high-energy, detail-oriented intern with a keen interest in fundraising and research. This internship is an excellent opportunity for a college or graduate student to gain first-hand professional experience in a museum, with introductions to membership, major gifts, and grant writing. The ideal candidate is an individual with a passion for museums and the ability to think creatively in a bustling cultural institution.

Schedule: Flexible; Minimum 10 hours per week

Responsibilities:

  • Researching museum donors and gift histories, helping us make connections to future institutional fundraising goals  
  • Creating an organized system for disseminating the researched data on an institutional level
  • Occasional miscellaneous projects, as assigned

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication, written, and organizational skills
  • Positive, can-do attitude with a creative stride
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Thorough knowledge of Word and Excel
  • Interest in learning about fundraising in a major New York City cultural institution
  • Ability to communicate and work with staff of all levels
  • Passion for museums
  • Ability to respect matters of confidentiality
  • B.A./B.S. or M.A. candidate
