Far Fund Internship

The Jewish Museum is offering a virtual or hybrid internship opportunity for an individual on the autism spectrum who is interested in the administrative aspect of working in an art museum. The intern will have the opportunity to work in a variety of departments at the Museum including Education, Membership, and Marketing. 

Department: Education
Reports to: Senior Manager, School and Educator Programs
FLSA Status: Paid Internship
Schedule: 10 hours per week

Responsibilities:

The intern will be assigned a selection of the following tasks below depending on their interests and strengths:

  • Data entry using Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
  • Entering and updating constituent information into Salesforce and Acme 
  •  Ticketing to track the success of telemarketing campaigns
  • Research projects for the Marketing Department including investigating exhibitions at other museum and ways to promote Museum programs
  • Create online listings for Family Programs 
  • Observe Education programs in all areas including School, Adult, Family, Teen, and Access
  • Attend curatorial lectures on current and upcoming exhibitions
  • Follow up with tour participants about payment and with evaluation forms
  • Create slideshow presentations for virtual tours
  • Write Alt Text for works of art in the Museum’s collection (training would be provided)
  • Prepare materials for school partnerships
  • Learn about the Jewish Museum, its history and collection
  • Participate in educational programming with larger Jewish Museum intern cohort; attend virtual talks and field trips

Requirements:

  • An interest in art history or visual arts
  • A strong interest in working in museums
  • Comfortable using a computer
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Applications
  • Willingness to learn or familiarity with Zoom, Salesforce, Acme Ticketing, The Museum System (TMS), and NetX
  • Comfortable working remotely, independently, and without direct supervision
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a Center for Disease Control (CDC) or World Health Organization (WHO) authorized vaccine (or approved for an exemption as a reasonable accommodation due to qualified disability or sincerely held religious belief or other legal basis)
